Column subtraction
Method
1. Set up your column subtraction method
2. Write out your place value columns
3. Subtract the digits in the ones column first then move one place to the left
4. If your top digit is smaller than your bottom digit, exchange from the column to the left
5. If there is no value in the column to the left, keep going to the next column until exchanging becomes possible
6. When exchanging, cross out the digit you have exchanged from and write the digit one less above. Carry the one one column to the right, giving the column a ten
